Professor Gail Gillon is an international research leader in children’s speech, language and literacy development. She has co-led the development of the Better Start Literacy Approach. This is a culturally responsive structured literacy approach specifically developed for the New Zealand education context. It is currently being implemented in over 1000 primary schools across all regions of New Zealand. Professor Gillon is a Fellow of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
